Melissa Mendez is a criminologist and socio-legal researcher based at Cardiff University. She is an attorney at law qualified to practise law in the West Indies since 2006. Her research interests include legitimacy, race and ethnicity, decolonisation, stigma, masculinities, penology, social justice and youth justice.
His research explores the experiences of young men from the Caribbean who have been convicted of a crime and their experiences of navigating the world around them and the criminal justice system.
