Esther Muddiman is a sociologist of education based at Cardiff University, focusing on youth activism, intergenerational justice and sustainability. Her interests include how current educational practices are shaped by colonial legacies, and she leads on the Dude Walls Project, raising questions about who we choose to depict in institutional spaces. She has catalogued stories of student activism during the 1980s in university newspapers to compare with contemporary student movements.
She has also been researching children and young people's involvement in protests and campaigning activities, and co-leads the GW4 Climate Justice Education Research Network.
