Dr Sergio Estupiñán is co-founder and co-CEO of Beekee, a Swiss education technology company working on offline-first digital learning systems for contexts affected by limited connectivity, unstable electricity and geographical isolation. His work focuses on bridging research in learning technologies with the real-world conditions of education, vocational training and humanitarian response. He holds a PhD in education sciences from the University of Geneva, where his research examined user engagement in digital learning environments. He completed three master’s degrees in media engineering for education through the Erasmus Mundus EUROMIME excellence programme, following an initial background in computer science and engineering. Before co-founding Beekee, he worked with international organisations on educational technologies and digital collaboration systems. Since 2020, the Beekee team he co-leads has supported learning initiatives in more than 30 countries, including with Médecins Sans Frontières, Arizona State University and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
