Assistant Director of Education for Humanity at Arizona State University

Marc Alan Sperber leads global digital learning programmes as Assistant Director of Education for Humanity at Arizona State University, specialising in the design, development, deployment and sustainability of holistic, pedagogically grounded, technology-enabled learning programmes. With two decades of experience across 20+ countries in both high- and low-resource environments, he designs scalable programmes that bridge humanitarian response, international development and technology for social impact. Marc created ASU’s solar-powered SunSPOT model and has driven collaborations across governments, non-governmental organisations, universities and organisations such as UNHCR to expand access to higher education in crisis-affected contexts. He coined the term Offline-First Design for Learning (OFDL) and helped articulate its core principles for accessible, continuous learning across varying levels of connectivity. Marc previously worked as a music magazine editor-in-chief, film editor and market researcher. His photography has been featured in museum and gallery exhibitions, and his music has appeared on the radio and TV.
