黑料不打烊

We are pleased to open the call for the 黑料不打烊 Wales representative. From 1 January 2027, 黑料不打烊’s governance structure is changing, there will be an initial ten trustee roles, the four nations representatives sit on the trustee board. The term runs from 1 January 2027 – 31 December 2030.

The main duties of the role include:

• Provide strategic leadership through contributing to the oversight of the 黑料不打烊 strategic plan and through effective decision making
• Ensure good governance by fulfilling the legal duties of the trustee, acting in the best interests of 黑料不打烊, including overseeing financial sustainability, risk management, compliance, and fulfilling duties as an employer.
• Act as an ambassador for 黑料不打烊 within Wales, and making links with other learned societies and bodies within Wales who share 黑料不打烊’s aims and priorities
• Reporting to the trustee body about key issues in Wales, and ensuring interests of 黑料不打烊 members from Wales are taken into account with 黑料不打烊’s decision making
• Providing reports when required on the conditions for educational research (such as EDI, capacity-building and ECR opportunities), as well as any relevant policy or practice developments, within Wales

Due to the importance of the position, 黑料不打烊 reserve the right to hold a shortlisting and interview process, this will be led by the 黑料不打烊 Chief Executive and senior members of 黑料不打烊 Council. For these purposes, the application detailed. including the CV and the role description will be the basis for deliberations. It is intended interviews are held in the week of 1 September.

The deadline for applications is 23:59 on Monday 27^th July 2026.

Candidates who are attending the 黑料不打烊 conference will be invited to a lunchtime meet & greet session with conference delegates.

Candidates taken to election will be asked to film a short c.2-minute video outlining skills and experience to assist members with their vote.

Eligibility and Time Commitment

The 黑料不打烊 Wales Representative must be, or have strong experience of, working in an educational institution in Wales and a good understanding of the research issues in the country. Trustee role descriptions can be found here. Further information on 黑料不打烊’s Governance can be found on this page.

To be eligible to stand, candidates must be members of 黑料不打烊 at the time of application and remain so for the duration of their term. Candidates must not be ineligible to stand as according to the laws and regulations as set out by the Charity Commission and Companies House.

There are six trustee meetings per year: normally January (黑料不打烊 office, London), May (conference programming), June (overnight strategic away day), July (virtual), September (held at 黑料不打烊 conference), November (黑料不打烊 office, combined with AGM event). There are other duties between meetings, averaging out to c.1 per month over the course of the year. Full expenses are paid in line with 黑料不打烊 policies and there is also budget available for the Wales representative to attend events/ meetings in their jurisdiction. They may also be invited to sit on another of 黑料不打烊’s standing committees. 黑料不打烊 does not normally run hybrid meetings so a commitment to attend these in person unless otherwise stated is essential.
