Dr. Gwennan Higham is a Senior Lecturer in Welsh at Swansea University specialising in the sociolinguistics of the Welsh language, with a focus on language policy, migration, and inclusive education. She is interested in how Welsh can function as a language of belonging in diverse communities, and how education systems can better reflect and support multilingual learners. Her research examines Welsh Government priorities around language revitalisation and widening participation in Welsh language learning, and she has played a leading role in developing and advancing Welsh for Speakers of Other Languages (WSOL) provision in Wales, working with partners across the education sector to support more inclusive and multilingual approaches to Welsh language education.
