Dr Emma Ransome is Academic Lead for Teaching and Learning at Birmingham City University, where she leads strategic initiatives focused on teaching excellence, assessment innovation, student success, and curriculum enhancement. Her work spans institutional policy, academic quality, and pedagogic transformation, with a particular interest in how universities can respond to emerging challenges while maintaining inclusive and equitable learning environments.

Emma’s research interests include generative artificial intelligence in higher education, assessment and feedback, student outcomes, educational equity, and sustainability. She has led the development of institutional frameworks to support assessment redesign in response to AI and is actively engaged in sector wide discussions on the future of learning, assessment, and academic practice.
