Daniel Mutanda

Global Lead at Tertiary Refugee Student Network

Daniel Mutanda is a public health researcher dedicated to human flourishing, sustainable development and community action. His work bridges research and advocacy, with a focus on empowering marginalised groups, particularly displaced young people. In his role at the Tertiary Refugee Student Network, Daniel supports the network鈥檚 strategic growth through capacity building and skills development. His work operates at multiple levels, from grassroots engagement, where he supports student-led activism with organisations such as Student Action for Refugees, to national policy influence in the UK as a steering group member of Universities of Sanctuary, and internationally through his involvement in the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM) Education, Displacement, and (Im)mobility Research Cluster.
Daniel believes that tackling education and health inequalities requires interventions that are both universally scaled and proportionate to need. To address these challenges, he employs co-productive, systems-thinking and realist methodologies, ensuring that solutions are both evidence-informed and grounded in lived experience.
