The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Conference 2024 and WERA Focal Meeting was held at the University of Manchester, 8-12 September 2024.
Attended by almost 2,000 delegates, this was our largest ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Conference.

We are delighted that this year we were able to record more of our sessions, so you can watch at home if you didn't have a chance to attend.
For this year’s conference we offered delegates the opportunity to record their presentations that can be added to the website and available as a resource.
This gave presenters the opportunity to expand the audience of their research and reach colleagues who may not have attended the conference or were unable to join their session.

This year Mandy from Sketchnotes UK attended the conference and drew several sessions, as well as made some bespoke illustrations about ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.
ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ aims to celebrate and promote the work of our Early Career Researcher Network. We are presenting a prize to the best Early Career researcher presentation at this year’s conference.
The top scoring ECR abstracts are automatically shortlisted for the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ ECR Presentation Award.
All posters presented at the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Annual Conference will automatically be entered in the Poster Prize Presentation award. All posters will be judged by a member of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Committees or other delegates.
The best poster receives complimentary attendance at the following years ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Annual Conference.
The SIG convenors are encouraged to attend all sessions for their SIG and judge each presentation. The ‘ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Annual Conference – SIG Best Presentation’ is then awarded.

For educational researchers the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Annual Conference is an important date in their professional year. It provides the opportunity to:
* network with existing colleagues
* support new colleagues at the start of their careers
* establish the beginnings of new collaborations
* exchange ideas with like-minded colleagues; and sometimes more profitably, with non-like-minded colleagues
* make new links with potential publishers or funders
* learn about research outside your own area and investigate possible connections
* indulge in discussions of ‘blue sky’ research that reminds you why you are a researcher
Seasoned ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ delegates could probably add several more reasons of their own as to why they return but for most it is about being part of a community of researchers. A community that is dynamic and changes over time; not just in terms of its members but in the way it does things. Participating in a vibrant conference is one way of making sure that you contribute to that change.
The World Education Research Association (WERA) is an association of national, regional, and international specialty research associations aimed at advancing education research as a scientific and scholarly field. Established on April 18, 2009 in San Diego, California. WERA aims to undertake initiatives that are global in nature and thus transcend what any one association can accomplish in its own country, region, or area of specialization. Member associations are resolved to work together to address such issues as building capacity and interest in education research, advancing education research policies and practices, and promoting the use and application of education research around the world.
Each year, WERA holds a Focal Meeting in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of a WERA member association. Focal Meetings consist of a strand of paper and symposia sessions, lectures, and other substantive activities focusing on issues of significance to education research through a world-wide perspective. Research that is comparative, cross-cultural, international, or transnational in conceptualization, scope, or design is emphasized.
