David Aldridge, Professor

David is Dean of School of Curriculum and Childhood at Marino Institute of Education, Dublin. After leading religious education in schools for ten years, he moved into higher education, where he has taught and held leadership roles in Education departments at King's College London, Oxford Brookes and Brunel University, London (as Director of Research). He was Professor of Teacher Education and Head of Department of Secondary and Further Education at Edge Hill University, and Head of Evaluation and Observational Research at the National Institute of Teaching. From 2017 to 2023 he was joint editor-in-chief of the British Educational Research Journal. He is currently Assistant Editor of the Journal of Philosophy of Education and he co-edits the Routledge Literature and Education book series. David's research explores the ethical implications of a range of questions in curriculum and professional practice, including research methodology, teacher preparation and moral education.
